He is not only engaging and informative, but quite humorous, which keeps the class entertaining. We did a dry fire session, then a live fire portion which was great. He is extremely knowledgeable about firearms from practical, historical, and legal perspectives. He had plenty of handouts and audiovisual devices that made for a thorough and comprehensive presentation. Safety was at the core of his training practice, and he takes time to insure that the students can properly handle a firearm before progressing to live ammo; by the time we moved to the range, we were prepared and confident - and even at the range, Kolis is meticulous about proper firearms handling. My girlfriend and I took John Kolis's private firearms training course and it was great! John makes firearms training a pleasant experience while still conveying the importance of safety and awareness for present and future gun owners. John's course has a classroom portion, a live-firing portion, and a test which upon completion you receive your Basic Firearms Safety Certificate. He is passionate about what he does and extremely knowledgable. 3 hours flew by like it was 10 minutes and we would've stayed longer to learn more if it was time permitting. I would recommend John's course to anybody looking for firearms safety training/use and especially to those looking to obtain their license to carry.
