Ambidextrous Shooting

Shooting effectively with your non-dominant side is a practical skill for any handgunner and serves as a valuable training exercise, highlighting areas for improvement in your fundamentals. The support hand often compensates with bad dominant hand technique e.g., bad trigger press. If shooting with your non-dominant side is new to you, don’t worry about the clock and do this drill slowly.

Preparation

  • 2 magazines loaded with 10 rounds each.
  • Hang the target at 15 feet.
  • The starting position is firearm unloaded, either in holster or on bench.

COURSE OF FIRE

  • Fire 5 rounds at the ❶ square, Right Hand grip
  • Fire 5 rounds at the ❷ square, Left Hand grip
  • Reload
  • Fire 5 rounds at the ❸ square, Right Hand grip
  • Fire 5 rounds at the ❹ square, Left Hand grip

Time

  • 60 Seconds
